Destileria Sacrificio was founded back in 2011 with the mission of creating the best premium hand crafted mezcal, and started making the famous Mezcal Sacrificio harvested and produced in Tlacolula, in the south eastern pacific state of Oaxaca.
AKUL mezcal is the latest member of this family, created to satisfy a growing audience switching from tequila to mezcal both in the on and off premises.
There are 10 states with over 100 different agaves from which mezcal is produced. Espadín agave is well known because of its great quality, smoothnes and versatility. AKUL is a 100% espadín, harvested both in Oaxaca and in the northern state of Tamaulipas, where espadín finds the best conditions to develop full flavor.
We take care in all the processes. Hand picked, 10 year old agaves are used in the process to ensure maturiy. The ovens are fueled with mesquite wood and the distillation process is closely followed. Oxygenation before bottling insures assembling of all flavors.
AKUL is best to drink at 18 celsius (66 farenheit).
Neat or with cocktails, AKUL combines best with mild citric fruits like lemon, orange or grapefruit. It’s also great with ginger, basil, hibiscous or mint.
Pairs great with raw seafood, deep fried appetizers and most mexican dishes. Its good as a digestive, pairs with citric sorbets, expressso coffee and chocolate.
AKUL is better served on a sherry glass.
